DPM Consulting Group is proud to be part of Summerset’s growing aged care development portfolio in Australia. As part of our engagement, we have played an integral role in harmonising this Chirnside Park site’s topographical challenges and meeting our client’s design objectives for delivering an aged care community that can easily be navigated by its residents.
Civil design solutions
We have worked closely and collaboratively with the project architects to help provide civil design solutions that align with the requirements of their innovative built form. Our liaison with the broader consulting team has consisted of designing an efficient road network that optimises the site’s development potential.
The civil design team at DPM Consulting Group has dedicated significant attention to detail in crafting a high-resolution 3D model of the entire site. The model considers the ultimate built form design and enables a seamless and integrated transition between the civil engineering and construction phases of this project.
Clever walkway design
Our team played a significant role in assisting the project’s architects and landscape consultants in designing a number of switchback path networks that will enable the site’s mature residents to access various recreational facilities across the site. This involved working to builder and surveyor requirements, while ensuring compliance with AS1428.
Complex stormwater design
As part of the project’s servicing requirements, we designed and oversaw the construction of large diameter stormwater outfall drain that had to be navigated through an existing road network. This required our civil design team to prepare a detailed service proving brief, undertake site inspections, and work closely with the contractor’s micro tunnelling sub-contractor to ensure that a constructable and cost-effective design outcome could be achieved. This design process also included a detailed hydraulic capacity assessment of the existing drainage networks that was completed by our water resources team and subsequently approved by the Shire of Yarra Ranges council.
3D clash detection
Our civil design team demonstrated their expertise in 3D clash detection to ensure that the efficiently designed road network could accommodate all the site’s site servicing requirements, inclusive of CCTV infrastructure and other services, whilst maximising the site’s amenity and developable areas.
