The Floodplain Management Australia (FMA) Conference, held annually for over 60 years and recognised as the most respected flood risk management event in Australia, took place this year at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in May. DPM Consulting Group was proudly represented by David Moret, underscoring our commitment to flood risk management and our dedication to staying at the forefront of industry advancements.
This year’s theme, “Floods in a Changing Climate,” emphasised the importance of prioritising flood risk management. The conference brought together over 350 flood professionals and community members, including representatives from federal, state and local governments, research organisations, emergency responders and community volunteer organisations.
The conference program featured several outstanding speakers, informative presentations, a local government councillors’ session, field trips addressing floodplain issues in Brisbane and surrounding areas, and excellent networking events. Of particular interest to DPM Consulting Group were the discussions on innovative strategies to enhance community flood safety. Engaging with experts throughout the event and these discussions provided David with new insights that will inform our approach to flood risk management.
